TRUE CRIME FROM THE GAILTAL VALLEY

More than twenty historical criminal cases from Hermagor and the surrounding area provide an insight into life, killing and death along the River Gail in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Whether wild stabbings with fatal outcomes, cunning poison attacks or brutal femicide: there has always been murder and manslaughter in our valley. The police investigations into the offences and the trials at the jury court provide an insight into the dark world of the Gailtal population in the period from 1866 to 1946.

Some of the crimes described here have been solved, others will remain a mystery forever.
