Astragalus (tragacanth root) - power from nature
Astragalus membranaceus, also known as tragacanth or huang qi, belongs to the legume family (Fabaceae) and has played an important role in traditional Chinese herbalism for centuries. This robust plant originates from the windy steppes of northern China and Mongolia, where it thrives in dry, nutrient-poor soil.

Its delicate, feathery leaves, bright yellow flowers and bushy growth are typical - but the root is at the centre of its use: pliable, golden yellow and characterised by a slightly sweet, earthy aroma.

In traditional Chinese medicine, astragalus is considered to have a strengthening and restorative effect. It is classified as a "Qi" plant, which is said to have a vitalising and stabilising effect on the body's own energy. The Chinese name "Huang Qi" means "yellow energy" - a reference to the colour of the root and its energetic symbolism.
