Kredeli unrubbed oregano has an incomparably spicy flavour and is the basis for Mediterranean dishes.
The origin.
Andreas Gkimisis from Sitia founded Creta Votanica with his partner Nektarios over 10 years ago. They have partnerships with organic producers from the region and thus support the traditional Cretan production of top-quality food. They won the 2021 European Taste Award in Gold with their oregano.
The production.
The organic oregano is grown on the coast of eastern Crete, harvested by hand and dried naturally. All the steps are done by hand. The whole oregano flowers are put into the jar without being rubbed.
The use.
Kredeli oregano is wonderful on pizza, as a seasoning for salads and vegetables and goes perfectly with feta - both hot and cold. Oregano is also ideal for all kinds of stews. But be careful - it only develops its flavour after about 15 minutes of cooking. Our Kredeli oregano is very intense: use sparingly.
Our tip: Fry stale white bread on both sides in olive oil until golden brown and crispy, add fleur de sel and oregano. Marvellous.
